3 On Your Side: Best Carpet Cleaning Services

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― If you have company visiting this holiday season, you want your house to look its best and that includes your carpet. Knowing who to hire is important so 3 On Your Side's Jim Donovan will help you take away the guesswork.

You want to make sure the job is done right and at a reasonable price, so the folks from
Consumers' Checkbook are coming to the rescue.

Everyone wants great looking carpets, but sometimes it takes a good cleaning to make that happen.

The latest edition of Delaware Valley Consumers' Checkbook rates the services used most often and offers a few suggestions if you are looking for a carpet cleaning company.

"Checkbook found big differences in price among carpet cleaners," said Rober Krughoff. "For exactly the same area and exactly the same home, prices ranging from about 70-dollars to almost 200-dollars."

Krugoff is the president of Consumers' Checkbook Magazine, which maps out everything from price and reliability, to quality of customer service.

He says you do not have to spend a lot to get a lot.

"It's also important and reassuring that some of the lower priced carpet cleaning firms actually rated very high for quality," said Krugoff.

One local company that got Checkbook's top rating is American Carpet Cleaning in Willingboro.

Owner Jack Felderman says the key to success is simple.

"Honesty. We're totally honest with our customers," stated Felderman. "We don't like the bait and switch, we don't like the upsells."

Elite Carpet and Upholstery Cleaners of Richboro
Lang Carpet in Wilmington, Delaware
Mangigian Brothers of Upper Darby
Paulson and Company in Swarthmore

The latest edition of the Delaware Valley Consumers' Checkbook also rates the best and worst housecleaning services, plumbers, movers, and delivery services.
