Viewer Tips Help Locate Montgomery County Toddler

(CBS 3) Police have located a Montgomery County toddler who was allegedly kidnapped by her father last year. Authorities said a CBS 3 report and national attention on Without A Trace, produced tips that led investigators to Alabama.

Asia Jackson is heading south to retrieve her daughter who was kidnapped by her estranged husband last year.

Jackson has not seen her daughter, Anisa, since December 2nd when she tried to pick up the toddler from her father, Phillip Jackson, who at the time was living in Maryland.

"When I went down on December 2nd, he said, 'I would not see her again,' and he let me hold her for about five minutes and took her from my arms," said Asia.

They shared custody of the child until January 10th when a Montgomery County judge awarded Asia full custody. Both federal and local authorities are worked to locate Phillip, who fled to Alabama.

"We asked the F.B.I. for a fugitive warrant and they are assisting us," said Montgomery County District Attorney, Bruce Castor.

Jackson was concerned for her daughter's safety because the 18-month-old suffers from severe asthma.

"I know what it feels like to not to be able to breath and I do not want my baby to feel like that," said Asia.

Authorities said they received help from the public after Anisa was featured at the end of a March episode of Without A Trace..

"They said it is only going to be 15 seconds, and I said thank you for those 15 seconds," added Asia.

Phillip Jackson is now facing local and federal kidnapping charges.
