Bittersweet Birthday Party For Local Girl

PHILADELPHIA (CBS 3) ― It was a somber birthday on Saturday for little Diamond Pough.

She is now two-years-old and is still too young to understand why her father is not there.

Police have no suspects in the November 17th shooting of her dad. The single father was gunned down on his way home from work.

It was a celebration that brought smiles and tears. The Saturday evening party was attended by many family members but not by the man who planned it weeks ago, Diamond's closest relative, her dad, Terrell Pough.

"It is a good and bad day, happy for Diamond's birthday, and sad because it is a big void for Terrell," said the victim's uncle, Richard Nesbitt, adding, "You can see she misses her father, she asks about him a lot."

The entire nation was introduced to the 18-year-old Germantown man in a four page People Magazine article this summer honoring Pough for his courage as a young single father.

But the recent graduate of Germantown High School was gunned down last week in front of his house. And it is a death that remains a mystery to police and family.

"It is extremely frustrating not knowing why, not having any closure to it, it is baffling at this point," said Nesbitt.

Diamond will be leaving with her grandmother and uncle in Mount Airy.
